2023-2024 School Calendar

Description Of Events
The MMUMS calendar reflects many events that occur throughout the year. These events include both school-day and after-school community events. Below is a brief description of each type of event.

School Closed Days
MMUMS is a full-day, year-round school. As such we don't get summers off the way that public school teachers do. Our calendar has built-in breaks for the teachers throughout the year. There are several weeks during the school year that the school is closed.

MMUMS Camp
Recognizing the need for parents to have continual care for children and the need for teachers to get breaks, MMUMS offers MMUMS Camp for children during these weeks. MMUMS Camp are days that the school is open for care, but is different that regular school. It's a lovely time for children and assistant teachers to enjoy playing outside, doing small projects, and indulging in art, puzzles, chess, etc. Meals are not provided during MMUMS Camp.

MMUMS Camp availability is on a lottery basis and is $25 per day.

Faculty Professional Development Days
Every third Friday of each month MMUMS is closed to children. These days are for dedicated faculty professional development and are for teachers, staff, and administration to work on their classrooms, have classroom, and school-wide meetings, attend Montessori workshops, participate in team-building activities, evaluate policies and procedures, and plan for MMUMS events.

Cultural Celebrations
Throughout the year, the MMUMS children and teachers (Nido to Upper Elementary) explore a variety of different cultural and religious events. These may vary by year depending on the diversity of our community, parent interest in contributing, and teacher background. Parents are encouraged to share moments of cultural, ethnic, and/or religious significance with the classroom/school. These are done throughout the school day with the children and teachers.
MMUMS School Observances
MMUMS observance many cultural celebrations and United Nations days of observance. We enjoy celebrations or special meals during the school day. School is not closed for School observances
Parent Education Events
Offering parents more insight into different aspects of Montessori education; topics will be shared well in advance and childcare will be available for the duration of the event.
Montessori Lower Elementary Events
Activities specifically designed to support the lower elementary curriculum. These activities occur during the school day.
Montessori Upper Elementary Events

MMUMS Community Culinary Celebrations
These events are designed for families to experience the culinary culture at MMUMS; events are open to children and parents/guardians at the end of the school day.
Progress Reports
Three times per year, written progress reports are published to the parents. Progress reports allow parents to see their child's academic, motor, social, and developmental progress. Parents of all children (Nido through Elementary) will receive progress reports from their child’s teacher. These reports will be published through Transparent Classroom and should be reviewed by parents before the parent/teacher conference.

Parent Teacher Confrences
Three times per year conferences are held as an opportunity for parents to learn about their child's academic, motor, social, and developmental progress.
